Went to Cambourne for the weekend. This is mainly a very new town with every builder and his son knocking up houses left, right and centre. In the middle is a shopping area with a supermarket, pub and curry house.

Due to my mates reproductive powers we had to get a takeaway so we strolled along with a few pints in mind while we waited.

Chutney Joe's is a chain and being 'daan saaf' is expensive. We ordered chicken tikka (called something else), onion bhajis (called onion pakora) and tandoori prawn for starters.

For mains we went for King Prawn (£2.50 extra) Passanda, Chicken Shashlik and Madras and a mixed grill (called something else) with a few naan and paratha.

The lady that served us couldn't have been more helpful and sorted us out a chilli naan even though it wasn't on the menu. Very nice. It was also packed. This I am putting down to good food and not the fact that there is nowhere else to go in Cambourne.

A couple of pints later and we were on our way. Got home to loads of onion chutneys that must come with the starters. All the starters were good but could have been bigger. Only three prawns as the dish is not quite enough. The mains were all delicious as were the breads though the chilli naan was not hot, hot as normal.

All the accompaniments were cool. This may have been due to us walking home instead of using the car. My madras was not normal madras hot but I am working in Leicester now, not the poofy south so I am used to everything being twice as hot. It was also slightly watery, but this sometimes happens with tomato based curries. Donna loved her shashlik and everyone was impressed.

I think £48 for a takeaway is extracting the urine a bit but the food was good. I shudder to think what it costs to eat in the restaurant. Anyway, thanks to Claire and Loui. Their hospitality and authentic Indian beers was better than any Indian restaurant anywhere.

If you live in Cambourne, give it a go. You can't go anywhere else.
