It’s been a while since I’ve done a review so here goes.

This place is a recommendation from one of the permies (or coasters as they seem to be known locally), Ross, and is in Gloucester town centre. Myself and Rob the TSM guy decided to check it out.

Menu’s were presented, and looked appealing despite the fact they obviously needed re-printing quite some time ago.

Ordered the Masala Dosa, one I don’t think I’ve come across before, and very nice it was too.

This is like a savoury, crispy pancake stuffed with potato and other hearty ingredients. It came with a green coconutty paste and a soup-like onion-carrot mulligatawny. This was lovely and immediately satiated my initial hunger.

As this was a new place for me I went for the baseline curry dish…a chicken madras…

This was a little disappointing after the excellent starter, but enjoyable still. This is a low end madras, more like a milder chilli salsa than the thick spicy sauce you get with most madras dishes. This may be because the restaurant was a South Indian/Nepalese one. Nice big chunks of chicken, and plenty of it, and the spring onions in the sauce did enhance it somewhat.

A nice portion of boiled rice and a garlic nan was enough to complete the picture for me.

Rob rated his starter (Masala Vada?) and main course (some chicken-on-the-bone masala type dish) higher than I did, but as for a return visit we both ummmm’d and arrrr’d on that one. I guess it depends what other culinary talent we find in the area.

£35 for the both of us including a diet coke, sparkling water and small cobra.
