Mincemeat Cinnamon Rolls
A festive twist on classic cinnamon rolls with a rich mincemeat filling.
Ingredients
Dough
- 500g (4 cups) strong white bread flour
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 7g (1 packet) instant yeast
- 75g (1/3 cup) granulated sugar
- 250ml (1 cup) warm milk
- 75g (5 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
Filling
- 200g (about 1 cup) mincemeat
- 75g (1/3 cup) soft brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 50g (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened
Icing
- 100g (3/4 cup) powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk or orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the flour, cinnamon, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl.
- Add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rise for 1-2 hours.
- Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon to form a paste.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the paste over it. Add mincemeat.
- Roll the dough into a log and cut into 12 slices. Let rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar with milk or orange juice to form a glaze and drizzle over the rolls. Add orange zest if desired.
