New Tabak Pakistani, Indian & Chinese Restaurant
199 – 201 Wilmslow Road,
Rusholme,
M14 5AQ

Our first buffet type restaurant in Rusholme. My own experiences of
India buffets has been mediocre, but despite this we decided to give it
a go.

We were in dead early, so one would hope the buffet would be fresh.
Well, I guess fresh can mean different things to different people.
There was a large salad bar, duly ignored by us both, but we quickly
located the pops and pickles which were very tasty.

Starters consisted of tepid kebebs, parkora, onion bhaji and spring
rolls. The kebabs had a kick which was duly noted should the mains turn
out to be tame. All were tasty, the bhaji I would describe as dense to
say the least.

There were plenty of mains to choose from, chick peas, vegetable,
mushroom, lamb, chicken tikka (looking suspiciously like liver), and
chicken curries were available in the "all-you-can-eat" stylee. Only
pilau or vegetable pilau rice seemed to be available. No Nans or
Chapiti’s were on display, so I suspect these were an "optional extra".

Eej went back for pooding, opting for something akin to rice pudding
and a very sweet treacle-like dish, turning him instantly diabetic.

All in all, my experiences of buffets is unchanged, and a bout of heart
burn this morning suggests this fella may be avoided in the future.

£28 for both of us, inc a couple of drinks.
