Attached to a pub/B&B this limited the parking somewhat. We got stuck right in the bottom corner and got blocked in when we left. Some tidy driving from Troy extricated the truck and home we went.
Anyway, what was the restaurant like. Very nice, says I. We got seated near the door even though we hadn’t booked. Booking would seem to be a good idea because the place really filled up (this was a Tuesday night after
all).
Our table was slightly off horizontal and this may have thrown Troy a little as he proceeded to demolish the ornaments stood nearby. Note to owner, Blue Tack is not the best way to secure decor to shelves.
We ordered a chicken salad and prawn/veggie tempura for starters. Troy was intrigued by the taste of his salad and could not quite put his finger on the defining taste. He was suitably impressed though.
My tempura was well made with light crunchy batter and very large prawns. The two dipping sauces were sweet chilli and soy which were both lovely.
For main we plumped for the Chicken Noodles with green veg, Pad Thai and Mee Grob.
All ok but not as good as the Aruno Thai. Portions are smaller, more expensive and less tasty. Shame really.
But then desert. Being a true banana hater I went for the strawberry/vanilla ice cream combo which was very nice (what can you say, it was ice cream). Troy plumped for the signature dish, Chilli Bananas. His face was a picture. Like a small child tasting nectar for the first time. Utter surprise, followed by joy, followed by more happiness, then a little bit of guilt, then more joy………………He described it as hot combined with cold, soft and crunchy, spicy and cooling. The chilli banana is actually three half bananas deep fried in batter and served with a sweet chilli sauce and vanilla ice cream. Looked like most people would enjoy it. Troy said it definately needed the ice cream.
Cost £45.00 inc 4 cokes.
P.S. Thanks to Ossie for getting us there and back.
