Having being evicted from Manchester because of the Labour Party Conference, I find myself booked into this regular haunt of the MonkeyBoy.

This, like other InnKeepers, has a Toby pub/restaurant affiliated to it. Unlike other similar affiliations (e.g. TravelInn) the lodge itself doesn’t have a reception, this is in the Toby itself.

Having checked in, given the standard speech by a friendly landlady (it’s "Information Leaflet" not "Nyphomaniac"), I was issued my room key and a key fob to unlock the lodge front door. Breakfast here is a continental affair; cereal, toast, that sort of thing, served from 7am to 10am. This was bad for me, since I have to start work at 8am, and with the Manchester traffic I had to leave at 7am to arrive on time.

The room was big (226), double bed, very quiet. Three nights of uninterrupted sleep, which is the main thing I look for. Tea/coffee/biscuits. Shower is good. Decor good. TV was missing it’s remote control, but the channels all had good quality signals (BBC1, BBC2, ITV, CH4, CH5,Sky One, Sky News, Sky Sports).

£45 a night inc brekkie.

Only one warning, if you want to check out earlier than 7am, you probably want to speak to reception first, as the Toby is all locked up until breakfast time.
