Had the unfortunate task of going to the company meeting today. Even worse was it happened in Milton Keynes. A dreadful place at the best of times and awful the rest of the time. The meeting finished and we adjourned to the bar where half a dozen of us decided a curry was the ideal end to the night. The boss said we could charge it to the company so 18 of us decided to take him up on it (sort of like the bonus we haven’t seen for years).

Jaipur boasts that it is the "Biggest purpose built Indian Restaurant in Europe" and it is certainly big. It was also packed by the time we left which suggests to me that the people of Milton Keynes have far too much money or can’t be bothered to travel for better Indian food. It was okay but that’s as good as it got.

We had two rounds of pops and pickles. The pickles were nice and fresh and tasty, but the pops were crap. They were stale and rubbery (and not in the chinese sense of the word). A very poor start to the meal. Our second set were fresher and should have appeared first. They also struggled to get any of our drinks orders correct. I have no idea why but it is frustrating trying to order when the waiters didn’t seem to grasp what we were on about.

To be fair the main reason for going to an Indian is normally the proper food and this was in the ok to good area. Not one of us said their food was fantastic but then no-one was really disappointed. We had a fair mix of starters and mains with all sorts of rice, breads and side dishes. All were what you would expect in any average indian the length and breadth of the country.

Then we got the bill. As I said the food was what you’d expect in any average indian anywhere in the country. I can only assume that the extortionate cost has to pay for the very numerous waiters and the "Biggest purpose built…………." blah blah blah. The quality of food deserves half the prices charged here. It is a shame because it is a really great place to eat. Shame the food doesn’t live up to the building.

Cost £178 for six including drinks.

I suggest you travel elsewhere to find some better food. They might lend you the bike left outside.
