The following are general intructions for manually starting/stopping Informix on AIX. Remember, there may be custom scripts (init or otherwise) to start this.
Startup
su – informix -c $INFORMIXDIR/bin/oninit
Shutdown
su – informix -c $INFORMIXDIR/bin/onmode -ky
