This is a great little place hidden away like the back of Mr Ben’s shop. This time the disguise is a kebab house. Walk through the swing doors at the back and enter a place where meat is good and plentiful.

We have been recommended this place by a work friend (cheers Martin) so the usual Wednesday night suspects turned up; Eej, Troy, Monkey, Al and Mrs. Al ready to eat lots of kebabs.

The menu is large and all the food is cooked on the grill up front in the kebab shop. I have never seen so much meat on a grill. It was positively groaning under the weight of varied chicken and lamb cuts that we ordered.

Starters showed our usual mixed bag of humous (not as good as the Persia Grill, but still very nice), meatballs (small but perfectly formed) in a spicy tomato sauce, hallim (grilled cheese like haloumi), sucuk (sliced spicy turkish sausage) and other grilled meats that I didn’t eat so have forgotten. All accompanied by red hot pitta bread. A good start but the mains were amazing.

Meat. That’s what it was all about. Al and Mrs Al shared a meat platter, Monkey and me had mixed grills and Troy had a light chicken dish served with the same tomato sauce my meatballs had been napped in (bless). All the dishes came with rice and salad.

The grills contained flattened chargrilled chicken breast, lamb chop, lamb kofte, doner meat, chicken and lamb shish. Just an amazing meat feast. Considering how much came out I was astounded that it all disappeared. I cannot believe this is not on every Atkins diet plan in the North West. The platter contained fried onions and peppers as well which looked great.

Puddings were then taken with rum babas, Semolina cake and a pastry, pistacchio, honey mixture that was moreish and very bad for you. Mrs Al was  disappointed by the Semolina cake but I think this was because she had misread and wanted a bowl of semolina. Strange.

Other highlights included the freezing cold toilets and Mrs Al warming her breasts on the radiator by resting them on it.

Cost was £110 for five without too much drink. A bit pricey but very worth it. Give it a go.
