If ever proof was needed that the Indian has crept into every part of England here it is. Couldn’t find a chippie in East Wittering but there is an Indian.

Madhu-Ban is a strange name but the food was certainly recognisable.

Pops were a bit stale and this could be due to the time it took the waiters to ask for my order. The tandoori sauce was very sweet but very moreish at the same time. Good Lime Pickle and very chunky onion and cucumber salad.

I ordered Onion Bhaji and got one of the flattened variety which they still managed to leave quite pasty in the middle. Strange presentation as well with the four bhajis dumped on a pile of salad. Looked quite strange. You had to be there. It didn’t look that appetising.

For main I had Mutton Pathia, plain naan, cauli bhaji and boiled rice. Rice and naan standard fare. The Cauli bhaji was excellent in flavour but again looked quite unappetising. How do they do it? Mutton, you don’t often see it which is a great shame. It is a much tastier meat than lamb and this pathia was proof in the eating. Delicious, India Gate, take note. This is how to do a pathia. Fruity, hot, sweet and sour. Mutton. I couldn’t believe my luck.

Search this place out. Take no notice of the look of the food and enjoy the mutton.

Cost was £17.25 including a pint of diet coke (got to watch those calories you know).
