Well, what a treat this was. Like steak? Go here.

Tuesday evening is half-price steak, and you will need this discount as it is very easy to get carried away. Why? Because you are presented with various cuts of beef; rib-eye, fillet, sirloin and rump, and a piece is cut-off when you say “stop”. Say stop too late and you could have a very big piece of meat.

For my first visit I chose the rib-eye, and stopped around the 320g mark, around 11oz. Eej on the other hand stopped at 660g, thats 23oz or 1.5 lbs! That’s a mighty thick piece of beef.

You are then asked if you’d like it pan-fried or charcoal grilled (the latter for me), and how you would like it cooked (medium to well for me). Finally, choose 3 sides from the list on the board, for me this was chips, double egg and salad (this last thing was the only thing small). You chosen cut is then delivered to the chef to be cooked.

It was a bit of a wait, probably because there was a few of us, but it was well worth it. My steak was perfect for my tastes and only the fatty middle was left. We expected Eej’s to be butterflied in order to get it cooked as he liked it, but it wasn’t. Despite this he was very pleased with his rarified meat.

One of the others, Mark, did order a medium, however when he’d got to the middle of it, it was more rare than medium. Seems even good places like this can get it wrong.

Here too is a fine range of real ales, and many were tried this evening, except by me the designated driver. All had a good time and enjoyed the food, squeezing in a dessert too, with and with (custard AND ice cream).

Beware, this place could get expensive if you get carried away, especially if you don’t go on a Tuesday evening. Definately worth a visit if you’re around at the right time.
