What do you do at Christmas? I go for no effort, no washing up and no cooking if at all possible. We took a gamble because we'd never been to Paddyfields before but it was open Christmas Day so I booked.
The deal was £25 per head (£10 more than normal) for a non-stop feast that only finished when you exploded. I went in a month before and the guys in the restaurant sent me a menu to choose our main courses from. The idea was that they brought out a huge mixed hors douvres which contained loads of different starters including two sorts of ribs.
Next course was duck and pancakes AND minced spicy pork in kettuce leaves. So far everything was great. Really fresh and delicious and very quick service. Extra pancakes and sauce was no problem.
Main courses cover all asian styles, from chinese, to thai, to japanese and vietnamese. We all chose our mains which covered most of the pacific rim and again all turned up very quickly but were beautiful. Then came the shocker. We could hardly eat another thing when the waiter asked us what main course we wanted next.
Apparently, you can keep ordering main courses as soon as you've finished the current ones you finish and they go make you some more. Great idea. I wish I'd taken my expander pants. As it was we were nearly too stuffed to move. I say nearly because Kirk and I managed to squeeze down a banana and pineapple fritter respectively. What a fantastic meal. We'll go back again one Sunday lunch to do it all again for a lot less.
You have to try it. Great food and service.
£140 including drinks. Roll on next Christmas.
