It’s been a while since the last review, and a visit to the Star of India in Northampton last night provided an opportunity for a new review.
Three of us visited this plush establishment (complete with waiters adorned with what looks like aircraft pilot uniforms), myself, Tina and GG.
The waiters were all polite, and even patient in the case of the poor chap asked to point out where the trifle was on the dessert menu by Tina.
Pop and pickles to start, fresh and crisp, no complaints here, although I didn’t realise that GG was hogging the spicy red until half of it was gone!
Straight on to starters. Couldn’t help but go for the baseline dish for myself, a chicken madras, along with a keema nan and some bombay aloo. All good, madras just about right spice wise, although I was thinking afterwards that maybe a vindaloo might be in order the next time.
Tina had her usual chicken tikka mossala (sic), and declared it the best yet she had tasted in Northampton. Worthy praise indeed! A plain nan and pilau rice accompanied her dish, and no complaints there.
GG has a lamb korai, and having explained at the ordering stage he wanted soft lamb (who would want hard lamb?), he was not disappointed. Tina even had a snifter as this dish is not a spicy one. A couple of rotis and a bindi bhaji joined his main, and again, no complaints.
A very nice, and filling meal (even without rice and a starter), and we all left satisfied if a little bloated.
Including two rounds of beers/diet coke, the bill came to a little over £60.
