Mincemeat Cinnamon Rolls

A festive twist on classic cinnamon rolls with a rich mincemeat filling.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 500g (4 cups) strong white bread flour
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 7g (1 packet) instant yeast
  • 75g (1/3 cup) granulated sugar
  • 250ml (1 cup) warm milk
  • 75g (5 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Filling

  • 200g (about 1 cup) mincemeat
  • 75g (1/3 cup) soft brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 50g (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened

Icing

  • 100g (3/4 cup) powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk or orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, cinnamon, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rise for 1-2 hours.
  4. Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon to form a paste.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the paste over it. Add mincemeat.
  6. Roll the dough into a log and cut into 12 slices. Let rise for 30-45 minutes.
  7. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Mix powdered sugar with milk or orange juice to form a glaze and drizzle over the rolls. Add orange zest if desired.
